Writing

 

The writing curriculum encompasses writing instruction on the writing process, traits of effective writing (ideas, organization, word choice, voice, sentence fluency and conventions) and independent writing.  Students receive instruction on the three writing purposes- Writing to Express Personal ideas, Writing to inform, and Writing to Persuade.

The writing curriculum focuses on foundational skills necessary for success:

-Contribute to group writing experiences.

-Use drawings, letters, or words, to express ideas.

-Makes a list to plan ideas.

-Write independently.

-Write simple sentences.

-Spell high-frequency words correctly.
